Coach Pops - Richard “Pops” Popper has been playing and coaching rugby since high school in 1979. He was a player-coach for Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, also playing for Carnegie Mellon University, and for men’s teams such as Monmouth Rugby, the Washington Irish and the Los Angeles rugby clubs, facing teams from England, Canada, France and Tonga. His two children, Natalie and “Nick” (Alex) have played rugby for the Ellicott City Express since 2006, where he started coaching in 2014.

Coach Mark - Mark Fletcher has been playing rugby for 26 Years, with 16 years spent in England & 10 years in the USA. Club affiliations include Stow RFC, Chipping Norton RFC, as well as representing Oxfordshire County, England. Mark also enjoyed 10 Years with Chesapeake RFC & Baltimore Brumbies RFC, USA. Has coached with Ellicott Express since 2010 and successfully coached the U-13 to state championship victories in 2012 & 2014.
Coach Leslie - Leslie Flynn started playing rugby in 1991 at Penn State University. She played fullback and fly half for a team that went to compete for the National Championship twice during her time there. Playing rugby is what spurred her interest in fitness and eventually a career choice in the health and fitness industry. Leslie coaches the U9 team and started with Ellicott City Express in 2012."
Coach Stu - Stuart Madden played school, university and club rugby for 25 years in and around the UK. He has been coaching for Ellicott City Express for the past ten years and his three children have played for the club at various times.
Coach “Clatch” - Mike McClatchey, aka “Clatch” has been a regular coach with the EC Express since 2008. While his son is now on the U15s, Clatch has coached the U11s for the past five years. Clatch began his rugby career in 1988 playing both 7s and 15s a-side for the University of Maryland. From 1990-2005 he played both 7s and 15s men’s club rugby for the Maryland Old Boys and the Maryland Exiles, where his 7s team placed in the US top 16 or better in multiple years. In addition to Maryland rugby, Mike played for the Potomac Rugby Union select side on a number of occasions both in college and at the men’s Division 1 level.
Coach Bridget - Bridget Oltmanns began playing rugby in 2002 for Mount St. Mary's University during the school year and University of Maryland College Park for Summer 7s. After graduating she coached Mount St. Mary's Women's team before joining the Frederick Women's Rugby Club. Bridget retired from playing competitive rugby in the summer of 2013, and she joined the coaches of ECX in the summer of 2014.
